Before I started working with Erik I was so frustrated with my body, my weight and my diet. I spent more time in the gym than anyone I knew and I always would try to eat “healthy”, but I wasn’t seeing any improvements and I felt so stuck. Well, I am your average professional working mother just trying to get the best out of life and feel good about myself. When I first consulted Erik Ledin I felt somewhat uncomfortable with my body and just needed some help to achieve my goal of fat loss whilst maintaining as much muscle mass as possible.

Erik’s plan was professional, balanced, and easy to follow. Above all, it considered my individual needs and catered to my numerous food allergies and intolerances. I found Erik Ledin after being directed to a fitness forum, which I found was run by him. I thought I had a solid base of knowledge on program tailoring and dieting, but after many forum discussions, and lots of reading, I was intrigued by the wealth of cutting edge information and techniques that Erik employs and recommends. I started working with Erik Ledin to prep for my first two figure competitions. I learned so much about nutrition and how it is a vital part of creating the physique that you want. The eating plans were very straight forward and simple to understand. If you do what the plan lays out, you will see results. However, no plan will work if you aren’t willing to follow the program. I was a high-level gymnast for 15 years, and now I’m a personal trainer / fitness professional. So, of course, fitness is important to me, working out is a big part of my life, and I’ve spent a good deal of time learning and studying effective fat loss techniques. But, when I decided to do my very first figure competition, I could only get myself so far.

And over the three months of dieting, as calories were taken away through the weeks of contest prep, his method of only removing a small bit from each meal was brilliant. It was very easy to simply eat my meals and do my workouts. As long as I just followed my plan and did what Erik suggested, I progressed forward. And since I was investing my money into his help, I made sure to follow my plan. And, boy, did it lead to an incredible transformation! I constantly increased my strength, put on lean muscle (even while in caloric deficit), and reached a level of leanness that still takes my breath away.

I may have already been healthy, fit, and lean. And my transformation may not have been as dramatic as other clients – but to me, it was a huge change and a huge accomplishment. For most women (or all women!), gaining weight/mass is a very frightening thought. After my last figure competition in November, I decided that I wanted to take my physique a little further and taking into account the judges’ feedback, I decided to gain some more lean mass. I had attempted creating lean mass gain programs in the past for myself, but I had always fell short of meeting my goals. I would end up gaining too much fat, without seeing any improvements physically in terms of mass gains or in the gym in terms of strength gains.

Erik’s programs were very detailed and definitely tailored to my particular needs (contrary to some trainers who provide cookie cutter programs). More importantly, I had a lot of fun in the gym during my whole time training with Erik. His programs are based mainly around heavy, basic movements such as squats, deadlifts, bench press, military press. During those 12 weeks training with him, I increased my lifts on almost all the core exercises, all the while feeling great energy-wise.

Physically, I felt great! Most importantly, having seen the testimonials and pictures on the Lean Bodies Consulting website, I felt very confident in Erik’s ability to help me reach my goals. He was always available to answer my questions and a great resource of information. Not only did I improve my physique, but I also learned more during the whole time about both nutrition and effective training.

During that 12-week time frame, I gained about 5 lbs. My waist only increased 5/8 of an inch; however, the biggest change was in my upper body (which was the area I wanted to improve the most): I gained a bit more than an inch in the chest/lats area, which was confirmed by my sports bras getting tighter in the back. Now that I have had a chance to work with Erik on a long term basis, I definitely have a better understanding of how critical nutrition and exercise planning are to seeing your body change. The first time I used Erik was for the week prior to my first Figure competition. Training that isn’t supported by appropriate nutrition is wasted, but when training and nutrition work hand in hand, results are not only achievable but also dramatic. They certainly have been for me.

With less than a year of training, and only two figure competitions to my credit, Erik was able to prepare me to step onto the national stage. I’ve been competing for a while now. I had always designed my own programs, which made me fairly hesitant about hiring a trainer. I figured I knew what I was doing, so why hire someone to tell me what to do?

But the prospect of hitting the national stages again really started to wear on me. I started to wonder if my methods were really the best way to go about things. I realized that maybe it would be beneficial to look for some outside help after all.

As a busy mother, wife and nurse, I had little time left for myself. And it showed. I had slowly morphed into something I didn’t like. I was always in the gym, running, wandering aimlessly from machine to machine. I couldn’t understand ‘how’ I gained so much weight and didn’t recognize myself.

I entered my first figure competition at 37. I was definitely lean (two hours of cardio a day will do that for ANYONE!), but knew I needed more muscle if I wanted to do more competitions and ever try my hand at the National level. Enter Erik. A fellow competitor that has since become a friend (Noel Clark ) talked about her preparation – 30 min cardio sessions? Carbs? These things called refeeds? SIGN ME UP (and by the way Noel LOOKS AMAZING! That was what convinced me). So Erik helped me add some muscle for a few months and totally reshaped everything I thought I knew about weight training.
