Protein Shake/Life hack :-)

Do you sometimes wish you could make your protein shakes/smoothies thicker and creamier without adding extra calories from things such as cream, peanut butter or avocado? Then you will enjoy this little “trick”.

Try adding 2 grams of Xanthan Gum. It is a thickening agent already in most protein powders as well as many other food products that we all eat and drink daily. Most grocery stores carry it and one bag will last a very long time since so little of it is needed.

Calories are super low (30 cals/tablespoon) and a little goes a long way. Too much will turn your shake into “sludge” but by adding 2 grams to your favorite protein shake in a blender you can create a thicker, more filling, delicious final product without adding any significant extra calories. Bonus, it is even gluten free. ;-)
