What to Expect from a Coach

I’m a Coach who is evolving. EVERY coach NEEDS to be evolving as none of us are perfect, none of us mesh with everyone, none of us has the solution to everyone’s problem.

I’m a lot different now than I was a year ago and I was a lot different a year ago than I was 5 years ago. Some I’ve had to learn the hard way with negative feedback and some I’ve learned by just paying attention to client feedback. And yet still, I have a lot of improvements to make as a Coach. I think I always will – even into my second decade.

No coach is perfect, regardless of what they preach on FB. Often what you ‘see’ in FB ‘marketing’ is not what you get. I too am very far from perfect. What I am, at this point in my business career, is open minded to client feedback where I was not in years past – concluding instead that well, “you just don’t know what you’re talking about; dummy”. But she/he did, and does.

That said, at the end of the day, good coaching does not have “coddling” as a part of it. Enabling is not coaching. Good coaches are not enablers. They are tough, and they are tough for good reason. They want more FROM you and FOR you.

Good coaches will tell their athletes what they NEED to hear, which is not always the same as what they might WANT to hear. BUT, that feedback, regardless of how it’s received, is said with the client’s best interests in mind.

Often times, clients can’t make this distinction in the short term – but this is what a client should expect – to hear what they need to hear to bring them to their eventual/ultimate goal, regardless if in the short term it’s not the peachy response they’re looking for.

What you can expect from LBC is a continual striving for improvement in our coaching service in response to client feedback.
