Want softer, smoother skin? Then try hyaluronic acid. See below for why.

In one Japanese study published in the Journal of New Remedies and Clinics, researchers had 22 men and women with chronically dry and rough skin consume either a placebo or 240 mg/d of hyaluronic acid for six weeks. What they found was that the hyaluronic acid significantly improved the subject’s skin moisture at three and six weeks. They also found that skin smoothness improved. However, that’s not the only study that shows how hyaluronic acid can help with skin. There are a couple more.

In a second study, researchers gave 39 middle-aged and elderly women with dry skin a placebo or 120 mg/day of hyaluronic acid for six weeks. What they found was that those who consumed hyaluronic acid had a significant increase in skin moisture with a tendency for the skin moisture to increase in the face.

Finally, in a third study, researchers split 35 men and women with dry and rough skin into two groups. One group consumed a placebo and the other had 120 mg/d of hyaluronic acid for four weeks. What they found was that the hyaluronic acid help to increase skin smoothness and ameliorate wrinkles.

Therefore, if you’re looking to moisturize and improve your skin from the inside then you may want to try consuming hyaluronic acid (120-240 mg/d).
