More on Motivation

The topic of motivation comes up a lot. “I need motivation, can you help me get motivated? How are you going to motivate me Sir LBC? I’m not motivated, etc.”

Here’s the thing, you already HAVE the motivation … but it’s to do the things you WANT to do. You DON’T have the motivation to do the things you don’t want to do. It’s really that simple. Your WHYis bigger for some things and your WHY NOT is bigger for other things

If you need someone ELSE to motivate you? Well, that’s not real motivation; you’re not motivated and it’s not going to last. Real motivation is intrinsic. It’s an attitude, not a feeling.

I’m not motivated to go for a run … hence my never going for a run.

As I’ve seen said, looking for motivation for something you don’t even want to do well … you’re not going to find it anywhere else but inside yourself.

Accept that it’s just not something you want to do, at least right now. If you can’t find the motivation to eat well, go to the gym, etc? Well, let’s be real here – it’s because YOU DON’T WANT TO.

Take for example a life-long smoker. Their WHY to continue is bigger than their WHY NOT. But when lung cancer arrives? Suddenly their WHY to quit trumps their WHY NOT. That motivation didn’t come from anyone else; it was birthed within that person.

So, YOU need to take responsibility for your motivation.

How big is YOUR “why”?
