I was talking to a client today who has a business trip coming up and wants to stay on plan. This can be challenging as he won’t have access to a fridge and stove. Regardless, as I explained to him, it is doable. As I discussed with him the foods he would either need to take with him or buy while he’s away, he asked me if there was anything else besides food he should bring/buy. That being said, I thought I’d share the list of items with everyone to help you be well prepared the next you want to stay on plan while away:

– Cooler (I recommend bringing one that refrigerates and can be plugged into both a cigarette lighter in your car, assuming you’re driving to your destination, and also a regular electrical outlet. Obviously, these coolers are more expensive but they’re definitely worth the extra cash.) If you’re not driving and are traveling by plane then a SixPack Cooler bag may be a good idea.
– Disposal utensils and containers
– Food scale
– Ziploc/freezer bags
– Can opener (assuming you’re eating tuna or salmon from a can)
– Shaker cup
– J-Cloths
– Dish soap
– Napkins

For the most part, if you have all these items (plus your food) then you’ll be well prepared for the trip, which will make sticking to your diet a cinch.
