Depression, Anxiety, and Fat Loss
We often talk about not allowing your circumstances and your emotions to dictate your actions.
But for those suffering from depression or anxiety, the power of those emotions can sometimes feel overwhelming and uncontrollable.
I’ve often likened trying to stick closely to a training and nutrition plan while suffering from unmanaged depression/anxiety to trying to run a marathon with a broken foot. You can do it, but it is going to be really hard. At least harder than for those who don’t have the broken foot.
If you’re suffering from something like this and aren’t being treated, do yourself a favor and get help. Either find some counselling and/or talk to your doctor about medication to help you through this period in your life.
Despite the stigma associated with these conditions, there is no shame in asking for help. It may not only better your life, but allow you to achieve the goals you’ve set out for yourself with regards to your physique as well.
Just be mindful if you are considering/taking medication to talk to your doctor and/or pharmacist to find one that does not have any adverse effects on your weight.
