I stumbled across the LBC page in January 2011. Just like so many, I looked at, read and re-read everything I could get my hands on; every article, every testimonial, every before and after picture that Erik posted. I was amazed at the transformations and the enthusiasm everyone had for his “unconventional” approach to diet and exercise. I have never been overweight…weighing 117 at 5’6”, but I was skinny fat. Sick of putting the effort in the gym and eating “clean” and not getting the results I wanted, I decided to get on Erik’s waitlist. I think I waited 4 weeks and it felt like an eternity. I was so ready to take things to the next level and knew his program was going to be the catalyst for my own transformation. My attitude has always been, “if they can do it, so can I”.

I could write about the many reasons why I chose LBC in the first place, but I think more importantly, I will write about the reason I have decided to stay. After a year on the program and having gone through a building phase, a maintenance phase and a couple dieting phases, I thought I needed a change. I thought I was ready to go out on my own. I did struggle with the decision to leave and never felt at ease with it. I also read something someone posted, “why change what isn’t broken?” What I didn’t fully realize until just a few days before I was about to leave, was how fortunate I really am. Being back stage with other competitors (at my first ever bikini competition) and listening to their journeys made me realize that I will never have to go through horrific competition prep. I will never have stories to tell about how I couldn’t see straight from dehydration, how I was eating tilapia for breakfast, lunch and dinner for weeks on end or how I was doing double cardio sessions to lose the last bit of fat. I was bragging about eating McDonalds cones post workout, about only doing 2 short cardio sessions per week, about eating peanut butter, greek yogurt and steak the day of my show and about drinking water before stepping on stage…you get the point.

I am so thankful for many things that LBC has brought in to my life. Not only have I accomplished a major goal of winning my class at Provincials, but I have had the added bonus of meeting the most amazing people. The gals I met while being on the waitlist have become my best friends and have been such an integral part of my success. I tear up just thinking of everything I have gained this past year. I can’t thank Erik enough for the program(s) he designed for me. I am ready to take on that National stage in a few months…and without a doubt, I will be doing it LBC style!
