Cheat Meals vs All-Out Binges

April 8th, 2013 by

I really don’t like the classic bodybuilding definition of the “cheat meal” that basically implies an all out binge until you feel sick.

It even amazes me that fitness professionals on the internet feel compelled to photograph the vast quantities of food they’ve been able to consume as if this were something to be proud of.

Last time I checked, binge eating and then starving oneself is called an eating disorder, not a nutrition plan.

Rather, I feel that a cheat meal should be a guilt free meal where you can enjoy a reasonable portion of off plan food, a normal sized dessert, and maybe even a glass of wine.

It is a meal to be enjoyed as part of a balanced lifestyle not something you feel compelled to consume in vast quantities because you’ve been depriving yourself.

Create balance and learn to enjoy a reasonable amount of food rather than punish yourself with it and the guilt that follows.547368_10151560590211648_503725150_n
