Bites, licks and tastes. Little + Little + little can quickly add up.

Great post from Amy from Curls & Whey Training regarding BLTs (bites, licks and tastes) and how little + little + little can quickly add up and no longer be little.

It’s important to realize just how much the little BLT’s impact your progress at any weight.

But for those of you that weigh less? It’s even more of a factor. A few BLT’s will already put you back up to a maintenance level.

Let me give you a general example:

You have a 125 lb female who is dieting at 12 x body weight. So her calories would be set at 1500 calories. (12 x 125 lbs)

Now let’s keep in mind that a general calorie range (no, this is not set in stone and no two bodies are identical in how they respond) for her maintenance would be 15 x body weight.

So 125 lbs x 15= 1875 calories.

So as you can see, there is only a 375 calorie difference between the two. At the 1500 calories she is at the high end of dieting calories based on her weight and 1875 calories would be a typical maintenance level.

Add a few bites here and there, maybe even add in a piece of cake, a few bites of your kids food, and the calories can add up very easily.

You evaluate your week and forget about all those little BLT’s. After all, they seemed so little. The progress becomes stagnant yet you feel you have been pretty tight to your plan. After all, you have been eating all your meals without even taking an official free/cheat meal.

Every bite needs to be accounted for. BLT’s add up! Little plus a little, plus a little, can be the difference between making progress and maintaining.

Be honest with yourself when assessing.
