Heart Rate, The Fat-Burning Zone And Fat Loss

The idea of using heart rate to determine “the fat-burning zone” is antiquated and useless. Although you will indeed burn a larger proportion of fat while working at a lower intensity, the overall calorie output will be lower and therefore the resulting weight (and fat) loss will ultimately be less.

Of course, I’m not saying that there is never a place for moderate intensity cardio. I’m just saying that you don’t need to adhere to some mythical fat burning zone if you do it.
