Machine Guns, Surgery, and 12-Week Challenges

If you repeatedly spin around in a room shooting a machine gun while hoping to hit a target, you’re probably eventually going to hit the bullseye…ONCE. But that doesn’t mean it is the best strategy.

That is how I think about 30-day, 6-week, or even 3-month fat-loss challenges. It might work for one person, but most of the time they completely miss the mark.

There is always the one person who did a challenge that stuck it out and made it work for them on the long term. You know who they are because they are usually the most vocal about sharing their praise for those types of programs and quick to defend them when they are criticized.

But those people are the ones that hit the bullseye so you have to understand that their experience dictates their perception and it isn’t’ always reflective of what your experience would be.

Personally I think that, if we were to think about it in terms of surgery, maybe people would see it differently.

“Well…it worked for me…but not for thousands of others who ended up frustrated, disappointed, and injured. I know it doesn’t work for everyone, but you should give it a shot. At least you’re doing something which is better than nothing.”

I don’t know about you, but I would not be opting for that surgery.
