Holiday Eating, Balance, and Lifestyle Mindset

December 4th, 2013 by

I had someone mention to me this morning that they’d taken our advice to enjoy an off-plan meal for Thanksgiving last week and upon weighing themselves today were frustrated that they’d not made any progress with respect to their weight loss.

So here’s the deal, when you decide to take an off-plan meal you have to accept with that the possible results that will come from that decision.

In other words, by choosing to enjoy a meal on Thursday that was larger than usual as well as enjoying some treats, you have to accept with that the possibility that the scale won’t move today.

The point that we were trying to make wasn’t that because it is Thanksgiving your body magically does not account for the food you consume, but that in the overall picture of a LIFESTYLE of fitness such a brief hiatus in terms of fat loss would really just be a blip on the radar. And it really is such a small price to pay to be able to be part of a holiday celebration with your family.

Further to that, it makes your plan liveable and sustainable if you know that when special occasions arise you can take time to enjoy a meal with your family and get right back on plan.

And guess what?

Next week you’ll be right back on track and you won’t resent your plan for not allowing you to enjoy that meal with your family.

Rather than focusing solely on what has happened this week, focus on the bigger picture of having a plan that allows you to move forward with respect to your goals over time while also permitting you to enjoy special meals with your family.
