Holding Your Ground

Sometimes life will kick you square in the face. Whether it is the need to take care of a sick loved one, a divorce, or a devastating break up it is going to take a toll on you.

In these moments there are obviously issues that need attention so they will rightfully take a high priority in your life. But you also need to take care of yourself.

While it is most likely not going to be perfect, you can still do the best you are able given your circumstances. Rather than having a black-and-white mindset of being either on plan or off plan, you can work towards having a mindset of doing that what you can in the circumstances with which you are faced.

Many people who have gone through difficult times over the years have told me that having some form of structure amongst the chaos in a situation like this helps to provide them some emotional stability and a stress outlet to help keep them sane. In many cases, your program can be your structure.

At the very least, if you’re able to do SOMETHING it is going to help stave off any weight gain during this time and once you’ve moved on to brighter times you’ll reflect back and be glad you never stopped trying.

Even if you’re not moving forward at this exact moment, keep going. Because the point isn’t always to move forward. Sometimes just holding your ground is all you can do.

But while you’re holding ground you’re working to build habits that will help you to be successful in the long term. One of those habits is pushing on in the face of circumstances that would otherwise push you back.

Keep pushing on!

Don’t give up.
