Being Thankful For Adversity
As we’re celebrating Thanksgiving here in Canada this weekend, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’m thankful for.
Of course, I’m thankful for my family, my friends, the roof over my head, and the incredible experience of being able to be a part of the LBC community as well. I feel so very blessed.
But another thing I’ve come to be thankful for are the struggles I’ve had to overcome in my life. Despite the heartache, loss, pain, and turmoil I’ve experienced in my life, I have come to realize that these struggles have helped shape me into the person that I am today.
I certainly wouldn’t ask for more (I know that they’ll come anyway), but looking back I am thankful in many ways for what each experience has forced me to learn.
If you’re in the midst of a struggle in your life right now I just want to encourage you that there will be a day that the struggle ends and you’ll be able to look back at the way it has shaped and changed you.
I can’t promise that you’ll be fond of the memories (I’m not fond of some of mine), but I can promise that if you commit to pushing through those times in the interest of making a better life that you’ll come out the other side with a new perspective.
For me, that is something I’m thankful for.
