Perception Versus Reality
To many, perception is everything. You know the cliche, “perception is reality”.
Perception is very personal of course, but we most of the time perceive people not as they are, but rather, as WE are. It’s really more like a mirror.
For example, if you’re a trusting person, you’ll generally perceive others as trusting. If you’re generally a negative person, you’ll often perceive others as negative. Who you are is projected onto who you think others are.
Perception is more about reflection. We perceive what we project.
You read other people’s lives through the lenses of your own life and thus, it’s really important that one, you do some self-talk to ensure you have an accurate and fair perception of YOURSELF and two, that you realize that people are not the same as you and your perception is not necessarily their reality.
