Are You On A Diet Or Living A Lifestyle?
I got an email from a client last night stating that she’d likely be totally off plan for a couple days because she was taking her son to the hospital for some medical tests regarding an issue he was having.
This was, to me, a good opportunity for a reminder that fitness is meant to be a LIFESTYLE (a word often used to describe many programs that are anything but a lifestyle).
When something is truly a lifestyle it isn’t that something that you switch on or off like a light switch depending on your circumstances, but something that you try to live out ALL THE TIME.
Are there circumstances that will arise that will make it impossible to stick to your plan 100? Of course!
Am I saying that she should just tough it out and make the plan work perfectly in this situation? Not at all.
The difference between a lifestyle and a diet is that when circumstances don’t allow things to be perfect, you still make the best choices possible in the given situation rather than just accepting that you aren’t on plan so you might as well just eat whatever you want.
