Having more muscle does burn more calories, but not nearly as many as most people would have you believe.

While some would suggest that an extra pound of muscle will burn an additional 50 calories per day, the reality is that it will only burn 6. Yes, really.

Though lifting weights is important and building muscle is valuable in the context of improving the look of your physique, it probably isn’t burning as many calories as you thought.
