Recap of My Last Few Days ...

Another Monday, another week. This week started off with me and the girls dropping off IFBB Figure Pro Melody Clere (I learned that her last name is pronounced 'clear' - oops) at the airport.

Melody flew in on Wednesday to stay with us and get some hardcore training in. I think we definitely accomplished that as I overheard her telling her husband Ron yesterday that everything on her ached, except for her quads ... since we didn't do a heavy leg day.

We were able to hit up Day 3 of her current workout plan at the gym I train at - not without incident of course. Now normally this club charges a whopping $25 PER day to train here as a guest. I had asked if they had a professional courtesy to IFBB Pros the night before and when we stopped by on Wednesday, we were told they'd charge $30 to train until Sunday. Good deal I figured.

So we're going through some upper body warm ups - band dislocations, scapular push ups, bent over thoracic spine rotations, etc. Then we did some prone Ys and Ts. We're not warming up for more than 5 minutes and Joe Bodybuilder comes up and says, rather aggressively, "we don't allow outside trainers to train here."

We're like, "What? We're just doing some warm ups."

No bueno!

So a 'disagreement' ensues with Mel and I on one side and Joe on the other, and it's quickly becoming apparent, he's doing a little double talking and getting caught in contradictions and double standards (I love this sort of stuff since I actually listen to what people are saying - words, you know they mean something).

Apparently, the gym knows who I am, knows I work in the industry and knows I've done a great job respecting the gym by not training anyone there (well go figure, maybe since I don't personal train?). But I should know better which is why Joe has taken it so personally and has approached us ... in probably not the best manner.

The issue was the perception it gives other gym members ... supposedly.

So I gave the example of going through the same quick warm up with my wife (remember, that's all we did before we got in 'trouble' - a couple dynamic warm up movements). I asked if he'd have a problem then.

Answer? "No".

Why not? "Because it's your wife."

"How do you know who my wife is?"

"I've seen your wife here with you."

"Really? She's been here with me maybe twice at best. We have a baby and can't come at the same time and she hasn't been here since shortly after she joined."

"I keep track of all the Fit Tests; it's part of my job to read the Fit Test results, so I know who you and your wife are."

Hmmmm ...

But if it's the perception of the other members you're worried about ... well, they don't know she's my wife. THIS could be my wife.

Ooopsy. LOL

Of course, none of our logic (extends far beyond this) resonated and the gym has the last say anyway, so we had to bow to the rules (although we hadn't even trained yet) so we trained together instead.

Now to finish, let's back the story up a bit again. Remember when Joe said he knows who I am, knows what I do in the industry and knows I've respected the club by not training others in the gym even though I operate in a professional capacity in the industry?

When we all shook hands and went our separate ways and tells us his name, he says to me ...

"What's your name?"

Oopsy!

--------

With that out of the way ...

We went on to have a good workout, finished off with a round of Barbell Complexes and that was it for the day. We went out to Jack Astors for a good meal which for me was a nice, juicy steak, an unusually large potatoe and some steamed vegetables. Oh, preceded by a big ol' plate of beef nachos. I don't rememeber what Mel and Laura had - might have been the same thing. Alyssa of course was showing off to the booth behind us.

Friday morning we hit 6 rounds of Barbell Complexes in the home gym and wound up hitting Day 4's workout at home in the evening as well. The Finisher was a killer bodyweight metabolic circuit for 6 rounds. More eats Friday night.

Saturday we filmed 26 new video clips for the LBC exercise library with intentions of doing the rest on the list on Sunday, but we never got back around to it. We also filmed a couple devastating metabolic circuits along the way. After this we (and my mom joined us too) headed out to a restaurant for some big eating.

I have to hand it to Mel - she knows how to work hard. I was impressed. And she was sore. We had a fun time all around.

Back to regularly scheduled programming now.
