More metabolic recovery success ... showing less is more.
The following is an email reply from a competitor client of mine who came from one of the 'gurus' of contest prep. After reviewing her most recent biweekly, where she's checked in at 138.5lbs (down from 160), I asked what she has competed at before and she said anywhere between 125 and 140. In her own words:
"I competed from around 125 to 140ish. 125 was about 6 shows in for the year, on continuous clen, and a way restricted diet. 140ish was when I was suffering some damage as my body just wouldn't come down. Despite that I kept trying and trying for another 5 mos only adding more and more cardio and less and less food. U know the story. Also, w/diuretics I'm not sure what my actual stage weight was."
I then asked her how the current 138.5 physique she sees in the mirror compares to the 125 and the 140-lb versions she's mentioned above. Her reply tells it all:
"This 138.5 is beautiful compared to the 125 that I mentioned in I am not a psycho squirrel packing away items to eat when then season is over ... waking up in a cold sweat dreaming I accidentally ate a snickers. My body feels better (I remember /scraping/bruising my tail bone on the bathtub I was so ass-less) and I'm able to live life again.
140 ... the 138.5 that I am now is much better looking (ie. my body is not pissed off @ me). It's much more confident (not seeing fat everywhere despite huge efforts). I'm not feeling like a roller coaster ... I'm not worrying that I'm not going to make it in life w/out being obese as I couldn't lose on 3 cardios/day, minimal calories and drugs! I'm not retaining unbelievable amounts of water. I'm not feeling lost because I'm unfamiliar w/the body I am in.
All in all, I think I am a much better total package. Physically, emotionally, physiologically. I am thrilled to feel this good. I understand I'm not ripped to the bone or anything, but I am in a great place. I'm making huge progress. 100x's better than I had feared for my body's future! If u would have told me a year ago I'd be right here, right now (both physically and emotionally) with the amount of time I spend in the gym I wouldn't have believed you."
And by 'the amount of time', she means the far less amount of time. Like I've been saying since Day 1 ... there IS another way.
