Congratulations to Alexandra Johnston ... And Some Controversial Judging
Just got back from a weekend in Cleveland at the North Americans where Alexandra Johnston competed in both Open Figure E and Masters Figure E. She ended up placing 6th in open and a controversial 2nd in Masters.Take a look through the pictures on either Muscular Development, RX Muscle or Flex Online and you might find yourself scratching your head at these placings too.
Why is it controversial?
Well, the eventual winner in Masters E ... placed 11th in Open E, somehow, with the same judging panel, beating FOUR girls that beat her in Open (including Alex's 6th, which also is quite questionable, but I'll save that rant for another time). Not only did she place 11th in Open, but it was 11th out of only 15 - the last call out.
Someone explain that!
I didn't even think this class was close. They moved the girls around twice and the judging finished with them placing Alex right in the center, where she killed it. So i'm sitting in the audience just waiting for her to win and then try for the Pro card in the Overall, and then bam, second!
Here's some pics showing just how awesome Alex was. This is with NO water cut, drinking 10 liters even the day before and no diuretics either.

Honestly, she was an easy winner in this one (and I doubt anyone who looks at the pictures could possibly disagree), but despite the placings, I am certainly pleased with how Alex looked and even moreso because SHE was pleased with what she presented this weekend and really, as a coach, nothing really beats that. The improvements that she has made to her physique in just a few months has really taken her overall package to the next level.
