Back to Regular Blogging ... Stay Tuned!
So, I'm not all that good at keeping up with blog content like some of these other lads are. Quite some time ago an old friend of mine from university, Mark Young (read his blog since he updates his haha) wanted to do a phone interview with me for a project of his. The topics were all the stuff I like – physique competitor type stuff, contest prep, peaking, etc. So in a recent exchange I asked if he wanted to revive the idea (since in the past we never got our schedules in sync) otherwise I might just use the questions (he gave them to me in advance) to create some blog content. His reply?
"I'm always down for an interview, but if you're asking for permission to use them for blogging you can do that instead (except that you don't write enough and it will probably take you 5 years to get through them). :)"
Nice guy eh?
Truth be told, I don't know how all these guys have the time to do all this writing. Mind you, I guess it doesn't take that much effort when you like writing. Contrast that to me who really doesn't enjoy the process of writing, but typically enjoys the finished product ... probably because it's finally done. I DO however enjoy writing when I'm irritated or angry over an issue and ironically those tend to be the best pieces ... probably because they turn into rants. The problem is that I tend to type them with closed fists pounding on my key board; a lot of spelling issues arise that way. Speaking of rants, I really need to write one on 'Internet Body Fat'. What an epidemic this has turned into.
Actually I guess it would be more accurate to say that I don't like writing articles – that is, a long piece on one topic. What I do enjoy however are question/answer type write ups. For example, I have a 66-page Expert Q&A thread with nearly 70000 views over on Siouxcountry (which by the way is the Internet's premier message board for anything and everything to deal with women's bodybuilding, fitness, figure and bikini; definitely a site you should check out if you're not already a member) that I thoroughly enjoy doing. With Q&As I find the writing more focused as I'm not trying to make the content appear longer so that it's worthy of being called an article.
So, now that you know I like doing Q&As, if you ever have one you want to see me give attention to here, shoot me an email, reply to this post, etc. Having things to write about keeps me writing after all.
I've also seen basically everyone start doing “Random Thought” posts (I wonder who started those). These are even easier than Q&As since sometimes there's just a small thought, or even a mini-rant to get out there that by itself isn't really worthy of a post. Plus you can just go all over the place. They've probably caught on simply because they're fun. So I'm going to get random too.
Be back soon.
