Being a military wife, I have become a 'single mom' for half of our marriage. You are probably wondering what that has to do with breakfast on-the-go right? Well, if you are anything like me, kids come first which leaves me last. I find that if I am not prepared and manage my time, cooking things like my eggs and oatmeal in addition to having time to eat them becomes nearly impossible. Or at least it seems that way. Portability I seem to be on the go a lot when Kevin leaves for deployment. And of course it starts first thing in the morning when I take the kids to school. Have you ever tried eating your eggs or oatmeal while... read more 1 comments
How did I ever forget about my ever beloved Wasa Light Crackers? I was shopping the 'carb' section last week (I'm doing re-feeds currently) and there they were! I use to love these things post-workout (PWO)!! One reason being that I can have 2 of them and its only 9 carbs! HAHA! So I dropped them in my cart along with my Turtle Chex Bars, Polaners sugar-free strawberry spread, 100 calorie Nutter Butter Crisps, and headed for the register. Can you tell PWO is one of my favorite meals of the day? :D I'm always trying to find more ways to have more volume in my meals. This has gotten the seal of approval from my husband!! That should tell you a lot, considering he is very picky. This is a spin-off to my 'carb-less pancake'. I figured since my Buy Bulk Whey protein powder is unflavored, why not make a pizza crust by adding some italian spices. This turned out great!! The crust is a little chewy, but I prefer that over a quiche-like texture. If you prefer less chewy, I would suggest cooking it on lower heat for less time and also adding an egg white and less protein powder. Don't forget to check out www.buybulkwhey.com for this great protein powder! For Crust: 2 egg whites 20 grams Buy Bulk Whey Protein (or unflavored protein powder) Spices... read more 7 comments
I guess you could say we went out with a CRASH! We celebrated coming into 2009 by destroying the gingerbread house. [gallery columns="2"] The recipe I used, is one I would highly recommend. You can make it soft enough for cookies, or hard enough to build a 5-story castle ;) Loreta's Favorite Gingerbread Dough 5 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp salt 2 tsp ginger 2 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp nutmeg 1 tsp cloves 1 cup shortening (I used butter flavor crisco sticks-1) 1 cup sugar 1 1/4 cups molasses 2 eggs beaten In a large saucepan, melt shortening over low heat. While shortening in melting, (we are all about multi-tasking) in a separate bowl stir together flour, salt and spices (if using cookies add 1 tsp baking soda). When shortening is half... read more 0 comments
