I was on the phone with my mom recently and she mentioned that although she loved my recipes, she wished that I would post the measurements in cups, tablespoons, etc. instead of using grams or ounces. It opened up the discussion of the accuracy of measuring cups, which reminded me of this youtube video clip that an LBF member posted on the Forum a few months ago. This video is an example of how the lack of accuracy can really add up. I know many people do not feel the need to weigh their food, but if you are wanting to really see how much you are actually eating, a food scale is a great investment. I plan... read more 1 comments
Today I'll be keeping it short, as this isn't technically a recipe, but instead a suggestion. ;) First off, you should know that I have this 'relationship' issue with chicken. I could eat chicken everyday no problem, and I never get tired of it. The problem is that in order for me to eat chicken everyday, I have to prepare it first. Here is where our relationship is rocky. I can't touch raw chicken. You get a lot of 'bang' for your 'buck'. In dieting terms, you get a lot of volume without it costing you a lot in terms of carbs. One-half cup of cranberries (55g) is only 30 calories, and 7 grams of carbs! To make things even better, they are very strong in terms of flavor, so you really don't need a lot to taste the... read more 0 comments
Saw Dust??? Can you believe my husband had the nerve to tell me my banana cookie was as dry as saw dust? I don't take it personal since I know I tend to like my things more on the dry side. What can I say? It gets me in the habit of drinking more water. :p This cookie is basically the same recipe as my other oatmeal cookies, but cooked in a different container. I wanted to show you how you can make it a different texture all by the size of your container and your settings on your microwave. Don't feel bad if it takes you a few times to gauge how long you cook it, what power... read more 2 comments
